2012年7月27日、“Slumdog Millionaire”などで知られる英映画監督ダニー・ボイルがアーティスティック・ディレクターを司り、英エレクトロニカのエース、アンダーワールド／リック・スミスがミュージック・ディレクターをつとめた、2012年夏季オリンピックのオープニング・セレモニー“Isles Of Wonder”(不思議の島)。グラストンベリーを模したという丘のふもとでくりひろげられたそのミュージカル・ショウは、オリンピック史上最も音楽的なものだったといえるでしょう。モッシュピットまでしつらえ、正に御当地の伝統的音楽フェスティヴァルを思い浮かべられすらしました。
